Your safe deposit box is located in a high-security safe that fulfils the strict requirements of security category 4+. This is the highest security category in Germany. The fireproof and burglar-proof safe deposit boxes are guarded around the clock.
The contents of your safe deposit box are insured for 10,000 euros as standard from safe deposit box type “Small”. You have the option of increasing your insurance cover to €45,000 (annual surcharge of €48.00), €90,000 (annual surcharge of €99.00) or €150,000 (annual surcharge of €148.50) at any time. The cover applies per safe deposit box. It is also possible to rent several lockers and distribute your valuables across them to achieve higher cover.
You must be in possession of a valid European proof of identity and an IBAN. The following documents are valid as proof of identity at CitySafes:

German driving licence (after the first visit)
Yes, simply nominate a family member or partner as a co-tenant. The co-tenant will receive the keys to the locker just like you and is authorised to access the locker in your absence. The contract therefore treats you as an equal main tenant. A co-tenant must be added in the presence of the tenant and co-tenant in your branch. Both the tenant and co-tenant must be in possession of a valid identification document, e.g. an identity card, at this appointment.
Of course. To do so, you must bring an extract from the company register with you to your appointment. The extract must not be more than three months old and must contain your name.
Alternatively, you can also bring your company’s VAT number and IBAN with you to the appointment. If all the documents are in order, nothing stands in the way of you renting your business safe deposit box from CitySafes.
You pay a one-off deposit of 85 euros per safe deposit box for the keys and lock. If you return all the keys at the end of the rental contract and no payments are outstanding, the deposit will be refunded to you within one month.
You have free and unrestricted access to your safe on opening hours. Would you like to use your safe outside of the regular opening hours? This is also possible by arrangement. In this case, CitySafes charges an administration fee of 35 euros.
If you lose one or both keys, you will be charged the costs. This amounts to 300 euros excluding VAT for one lost key and 600 euros excluding VAT for two lost keys.
You remain the legal and beneficial owner of the safe deposit box contents at all times. It makes no difference whether you store your belongings in a bank safe deposit box or in your own bank vault. Unlike most banks, in the event of bankruptcy, your safe deposit box is not part of CitySafes’ bankruptcy estate.
*The 1€ for the first year promotion is applicable for the sizes Klein and Mittel. This promotion is valid until September 30, 2024. A maximum of 3 safes per customer applies.
