How soon can I have access to a safe?
If you make an appointment via our website or by calling 02 486 70 00, you can often get an appointment within a few days. In a hurry? Then contact us by phone on 02 486 70 00 to enquire about the possibility of an appointment within 24 hours. During your visit, you will be given a tour of the branch. You can hire a safe and start using it right away. Therefore, take your valuables with you in advance so that you do not have to come back again.
Up to what amount is my safe insured?
The Standard safe and larger is insured up to €45,000. If you wish, you can increase your cover for a fee. For €52 extra per year, you are insured up to €90,000 and for €130 extra per year, you are insured up to €150,000. The cover applies per safe. It is therefore possible to rent multiple safes to achieve even higher cover. You then spread your valuables over several safes. There is no insurance on the basic safe.
What do you need to rent a safe deposit box at CitySafes Brussels?
You must be in possession of a valid European ID and an IBAN. At CitySafes, the following documents are valid as proof of identity:
- EU passport
- Valid Residence Document for Belgium
- Belgian residence document or ID
Can I rent a safe deposit box together with someone else?
Yes, you can appoint your partner or a family member as a co-tenant. Like you, the co-tenant will have access to the safe with the keys even if you are not there yourself. Both the main tenant and the co-tenant have equal rights as per the contract. Adding a co-tenant can only be done in person at the branch, where both of you must be present with a valid ID.
Is it possible to rent a safe for business?

Are there any additional costs apart from the rental price?
You pay a one-off deposit of € 85 per safe deposit box for the keys and lock. If you return all keys at the end of the rental agreement and there are no outstanding payments, the deposit will be refunded to you within a month.
Should you lose one or both keys, you will also be charged for this. The cost for one lost key is €300,- excluding VAT and €600,- excluding VAT for two lost keys.
Do I always retain 100% ownership of my goods?
You are and will remain 100% legal and economic owner of your properties at all times. Unlike in most banks, your properties are not part of the estate in case of bankruptcy.
